Welcome...

Dittisham Sailing Club

Dittisham Sailing Club is a small but vibrant sailing club on the River Dart in South Devon, between Totnes and Dartmouth. Our sailing area is one of the most beautiful estuaries in the country.

The river is open at the village, allowing legs of up to 1 mile long. Tidal streams, counter currents and tricky wind shifts due to the local topography make for interesting sailing conditions.

The Sailing Committee organise a busy racing program from March to December and there is also an equally busy junior sailing program typically running from April to November . Racing is for any class with a Portsmouth Yardstick and takes place on most Sundays and midweek during the summer months. Classes that do well are those of moderate performance such as Solos, Lasers, Enterprises and Devon Yawls. Typically 10 to 20 boats compete in each race

Membership is relatively cheap, reflecting the absence of any costly facilities. Family membership is £25 a year, with boat parking from £35. There is a ‘one-off’ joining fee of £50.

Our facilities consist of a dinghy park, a boat house with changing/storage facilities and modest cooking facilities. We have two rescue boats. Toilets and car parking are available nearby in the Ham car park. The club was successful during 2005 in obtaining planning permission for a much larger club house and much work is now underway on design detailing and match funding.

Open Meetings - we run class meetings for Lasers, Solos and Toppers. The Dittisham Regatta on the first Saturday in August, and Dittisham Sailing Club is the venue for dinghy events in the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta in late August.
